Asher and Gabi's Playdate

Rosie and I have been switching off play dates with our older kids. It's such a win-win because the mom hosting gets things done while they are occupied playing together. The mom dropping off gets a couple of free hours to run errands or whatever.

It is so fun watching the contrast between boys and girls. Gabi is into imaginary play where Asher is all about constructing things out of various objects and blocks or jumping off furniture. She really calms and balances him, where a boy his age would fuel the rambunctiousness.

Here is some of the cute dialogue I heard between them:

SUPERHEROES:
Gabi: We're superheroes and he (our dog Max) is our super dog.
Asher: I'm sick. (Asher had just gotten over a cold so he had "being sick" on his mind.
Gabi: No we're superheroes. You can't be sick. You're supposed to save the day!"

CONVERSATION OVER SNACK TIME:
Gabi: I love you Asher!
Asher: What?
Gabi: I love you Asher!
Asher: Ohhhh! Thanks!

Every time Gabi comes over to play she requests the "big paper". It's a big roll of butcher paper I bought at Sam's Club (I got the idea from my mom- she had this for us when we were kids).

They were taking turns tracing each other on the paper. When Asher was tracing Gabi, he gave her a smooch!
