Hear me roarrr!
Yesterday as Elie and I were waiting for Baby Gap to open we did a little window shopping. He spotted a faux fur leopard scarf on a mannequin and says, "Roarrr!"
He's like a bloodhound
Asher has an amazing sense of smell. My mom gave me some hand-me-downs when we visited Park City this summer. When I wore a wind breaker from her Asher smelled my jacket and told me it smells like Babi.
On Sunday Moises had just come home from Starbucks and Asher told him he smelled like Starbucks.
These are just a couple of instances.

Asher's Words
Here are some of the funny things Asher has said recently...
PUMPKIN SEEDS
I'm always telling Asher he needs to eat a couple more bites of his food so that he'll grow big and strong. At school he has been studying all about pumpkins including roasting the seeds and eating them. This is what he said the other day when he was eating his lunch...
Asher: When I go at school they feed me pumpkin seeds and they grow me!
NEW BABY
When Asher discovered marker all over the cupboards and floor...
Asher: Who did that?! Did Elie do that?!
Me: Yes
Asher: He's a bad boy! Maybe we should get a new baby!
FULL MOON:
While Moises took Asher to run a couple of errands last night...
Moises: Look Asher, the moon is almost full!
Asher: He better go home to eat some food so he gets full.
WHEN I'M A "DULT":
Asher is always talking about all the things he'll be able to do when he's a "dult".
Asher: When I'm a dult I can use the pokey scissors and not the ones for babies.
RX REFILL:
As I was taking Asher to school this morning I was thinking out loud saying that I need to call Max's vet to get his RX refilled.
Asher: Why do you need to call Max's vet?
Me: Max needs more medicine because his elbows hurt him. So I need to call his doctor and have them send us more so he feels better.
Asher: Ohhh, that's so nice to us!

Asher and Gabi's Playdate
Rosie and I have been switching off play dates with our older kids. It's such a win-win because the mom hosting gets things done while they are occupied playing together. The mom dropping off gets a couple of free hours to run errands or whatever. It is so fun watching the contrast between boys and girls. Gabi is into imaginary play where Asher is all about constructing things out of various objects and blocks or jumping off furniture. She really calms and balances him, where a boy his age would fuel the rambunctiousness.
Here is some of the cute dialogue I heard between them:
SUPERHEROES:
Gabi: We're superheroes and he (our dog Max) is our super dog.
Asher: I'm sick. (Asher had just gotten over a cold so he had "being sick" on his mind.
Gabi: No we're superheroes. You can't be sick. You're supposed to save the day!"
CONVERSATION OVER SNACK TIME:
Gabi: I love you Asher!
Asher: What?
Gabi: I love you Asher!
Asher: Ohhhh! Thanks!
Every time Gabi comes over to play she requests the "big paper". It's a big roll of butcher paper I bought at Sam's Club (I got the idea from my mom- she had this for us when we were kids).

They were taking turns tracing each other on the paper. When Asher was tracing Gabi, he gave her a smooch!

Elie and Mommy's Trip to the Zoo
Last week I took Elie to the zoo while Asher was in school. Now that he has dropped his morning nap, I can take him to do things, just the two of us. This time of year the zoo is empty so Elie basically ran free where ever he pleased, with Mommy right behind him. It was so fun to watch how excited he would get to see all these animals in person that he's been reading about in his books. He got very enthusiastic making all the different animal sounds as we approached each one-- as if he were saying to them, "I'm such a big fan of you, can I have your autograph?!"
He also enjoyed crunching through all of the leaves near the zebras.

Colette's 3rd Annual Halloween Bash!
Wow, I can't believe it's already been three years! Each year Colette hosts our Halloween playgroup... now it's just a given that it will be at her house that week. And of course it's not complete without our famous "get the kids together on the couch before one of them bolts" shot. Click here for last years. And here for the year before last.

Trick-Or-Treat!
This was Asher and Elie's first time trick-or-treating. Elie rode in a stroller while Asher ran like a wild man collecting goodies for himself and Elie. It took him a few houses to get use to the idea of knocking on doors asking for candy. After they would come to the door he'd stand there with a blank stare looking up until I gave hints on what to say! But sure enough he got the hang of it!By the way, isn't this the sweetest mother and baby picture?!
